Rory Kleinveldt pulls out of move to Northamptonshire

Kleinveldt pulls out of Northants move

Northamptonshire have been dealt a blow with the news that Rory Kleinveldt will not be able to play for the county this season.

The 31-year-old seamer was lined up as a replacement for overseas signing Jackson Bird, who was injured earlier this year, but Cricket South Africa have stepped in to cancel the deal due to concerns over a knee problem.

"Rory was due to arrive in the UK on Wednesday and the late decision by Cricket South Africa is extremely disappointing," a club statement revealed.

"Northants will continue in their search to bring an overseas player to the club for the 2014 cricket season."

Northamptonshire begin their County Championship campaign against Durham on Sunday.
