Vernon Philander out of West Indies clash

A hamstring injury rules Vernon Philander out of South Africa's World Cup fixture against the West Indies.

South Africa will have to make do without the services of bowler Vernon Philander for Friday's Cricket World Cup encounter against the West Indies.

The 29-year-old suffered a hamstring injury during his side's 130-run defeat at the hands of India on Sunday.

A subsequent scan has revealed a grade one tear, which is likely to rule him out of action for up to 10 days.

Philander may recover in time to feature against Ireland on March 3.
