Marcus Trescothick: 'Matthew Maynard right man for Somerset'

Marcus Trescothick tells Sports Mole that it is only a matter of time before Somerset reap the rewards of Matthew Maynard's work.

Veteran batsman Marcus Trescothick has backed director of cricket Matthew Maynard to make Somerset a more competitive side.

Maynard took charge at the County Ground at the end of last season, which saw Somerset finish sixth in Division One and struggle to make an impact in either the Royal London One-Day Cup or the T20 Blast.

However, having worked alongside Maynard for a number of months now, Trescothick believes that the 49-year-old is the right man to turn things around at Taunton.

"Matt has been great so far. He's doing things a little differently and I am sure that the club will see the benefits of this in the not too distant future," Trescothick told Sports Mole

"Although we have had a difficult start results-wise, the signs are there that we have the beginnings of a very good side."

Somerset have lost their opening three matches of the ongoing County Championship campaign.
