Melbourne Renegades cruise past Melbourne Stars in local derby

The Melbourne Renegades have cruised to a comfortable victory against local rivals Melbourne Stars in their Big Bash T20 match today.

The Stars won the toss and elected to bat, setting a target of 146-9 with Luke Wright top scoring with just 29.

The Stars suffered a collapse in their final two overs, losing four wickets for just 18 runs, a spell triggered by a fine Muttiah Muralitharan catch on the boundary.

Will Sheridan did most of the damage with the ball, taking three wickets, while Darren Pattinson's figures of 2-12 were also impressive.

The Renegades' own batting display was emphatic, with Aaron Finch top-scoring with 67 not out.

Shane Warne got the only wicket for the Stars and, although Marlon Samuels was forced to retire hurt, the Renegades easily reached the target, finishing the game 147-1 after 18.5 overs.
