Nottinghamshire Outlaws claim seven-wicket victory over Northants Steelbacks

Samit Patel and skipper James Taylor help Nottinghamshire Outlaws achieve a seven-wicket victory over Northants Steelbacks at Trent Bridge.

Samit Patel and skipper James Taylor have guided Nottinghamshire Outlaws to a seven-wicket victory over Northants Steelbacks in the Natwest T20 Blast, despite Josh Cobb's career-best 84 for the visitors.

The Steelbacks had won four of their past five matches, with the other one a washout at Leicestershire, and they looked in good shape as Cobb helped them to 173-5 off their 20 overs.

But it wasn't to be enough as England pair Patel and Taylor guided the Outlaws side to their fourth T20 victory of the season. With the pressure on, the pair put on 95 from 52 balls as Notts scored 175-3 with nine balls to spare.

Northants were hoping to move into the top two of the North Group following the previous night's dramatic two-run win at Worcestershire Rapids.

Their bowlers, however, were unable to get them over the line again as Patel, who made an unbeaten 58, and Taylor, who was 38 not out, secured the victory for the Outlaws.
