Michael Yardy resigns as Sussex captain after three years in charge of the team in all competitions.

Michael Yardy has revealed that he will be standing down as captain of Sussex after three years as skipper.

The 31-year-old will lead the side for the final time in next month's Twenty20 finals day before handing full duties to Ed Joyce.

"I have decided to step down as captain in order to concentrate on my own game," Yardy said. "There are many things I still wish to achieve as a player which will also hopefully help contribute to the team winning more silverware."

"I would like to say a massive thank you to everyone for all the effort they have put in over my time as captain and I look forward to leading the team at t20 Finals Day."

Joyce will begin his reign as captain in the County Championship match against Warwickshire beginning on Wednesday.
