Sam Northeast takes Kent captaincy

Kent have appointed Sam Northeast as the county's new captain for the 2016 season.

The 25-year-old, who was the vice-skipper this year, has replaced Rob Key in the position.

"It's a great honour to become club captain of a team I've supported from a young age and follow in the footsteps of some great captains," he told the club's official website. "Hopefully the future is bright for Kent and I can help bring some silverware back to the club."

Northeast scored 2,007 runs over all formats of the game in 2015.
