Martyn Moxon full of praise for title-winning Yorkshire

Moxon hails "remarkable achievement"

Director of cricket Martyn Moxon has claimed that defending the County Championship title is a "remarkable achievement" from Yorkshire.

Yorkshire dismissed Middlesex for 106 before moving to 238-9 on day one at Lord's to ensure they could not be caught at the top of Division One, and Moxon believes that the triumph is more impressive than their success last year.

"The first win is really special, but given the circumstances this is probably a bigger achievement than winning last year," he told BBC Sport.

"To combine developing England players with domestic success is a fantastic effort from everyone involved.

"To have provided so many England players this summer and still won the Championship, with two and a half games left, I think it's a remarkable achievement."

Yorkshire captain Andrew Gale believes that his side can be the first team to win three successive titles since the club achieved the feat in 1968.
