Lancashire secure top-flight return

Lancashire draw with Kent to seal their return to Division One.

Lancashire confirmed their promotion back to Division One of the LV= County Championship with a draw against Kent today.

Alex Davies and Steven Croft put on an unbeaten century stand to secure the five extra points needed to secure promotion.

Chasing down Kent's total of 570-8, Lancashire had started the day precariously on 47-2, but Davies and Croft's resistance turned the tide.

With two games of the season left, Lancashire now cannot be caught by third-placed Northants.

However, Surrey, whom Lancashire will face in their penultimate game of the season, moved to the top of table earlier in the day with victory over Derbyshire.
