Mustafa Kamal has announced his resignation as ICC president on the grounds that he cannot work with people who are "polluting the game".
The relationship between Kamal and the ICC became frayed when he criticised the umpires for a no-ball call during the World Cup quarter-final between India and Bangladesh last month.
After refusing to apologise, Kamal was dropped from his duties of handing the tournament trophy to winners Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday.
"The main reason for my resignation is that I can't work with those who can act unconstitutionally and unlawfully," Kamal told reporters in Dhaka. "I am just sending my resignation to the ICC.
"I was not allowed to work in line with the ICC constitution and I cannot work with them beyond the ICC constitution. These type of people should be away from cricket, these kind of people are polluting the game. Otherwise cricket will be spoilt. It is my earnest request to the ICC to revisit these things and people should research why I have resigned."
Kamal moved from vice-president to president of the governing body last year.
