Jason Gillespie calls for Yorkshire focus

Yorkshire coach Jason Gillespie warns his side that they must stay focused as they close in on a second County Championship title in as many years.

Yorkshire coach Jason Gillespie has told his side that they must remain focused as they close in on the County Championship title.

The team will be champions for the second year in succession if they gain six points from their game at Middlesex.

Yorkshire are 43 points ahead of their second-placed opponents as it stands, and have a game in hand with three matches of the season left to go.

"With all the media speculation there's a buzz around and a bit of excitement," Gillespie told BBC Radio Sheffield.

"It's difficult for them not to get excited but they have to be focused. "Whatever we do on day one, bat or bowl, we need to do that to the best of our abilities.

"Everyone is excited and they've earned that right to be excited. We've put ourselves in a really good position but we can't take anything for granted."

Yorkshire's match at Middlesex begins on Wednesday.
