Tillakaratne Dilshan has decided to step down as captain of the Sri Lankan cricket team.
The 35-year-old, who took over the captaincy from Kumar Sangakkara in 2011, failed to claim a victory in three Tests and three one-day international series.
Dilshan's own form with the bat has also dipped in recent weeks and as a result the right-hander has decided to quit to concentrate on his performances.
Mahela Jayawardene is expected to be named Sri Lanka's new skipper.
