Derbyshire batsman Billy Godleman is banned for two matches for throwing the ball in an "inappropriate and dangerous manner" during their match with Gloucestershire.

Derbyshire batsman Billy Godleman has been banned for two matches for throwing the ball in an "inappropriate and dangerous manner".

The 26-year-old was reported by the umpires during Derbyshire's seven-wicket win over Gloucestershire in their County Championship Division Two game at Bristol.

The former Middlesex and Essex player already held three disciplinary points for an offence of "inappropriate and deliberate physical contact between players" following a clash with Leicestershire's Ben Raine last summer.

Another offence within a two-year period has earned Godleman six more penalty points and triggered an automatic suspension with no right to appeal.

Godleman will miss the matches against Glamorgan in Cardiff and at home to Northants.
