Mark Cosgrove joins Leicestershire as captain

Australian batsman Mark Cosgrove signs a two-year deal to become the new captain of Leicestershire.

Leicestershire have confirmed that Mark Cosgrove has agreed to join the club as captain.

The Australian batsman, who has previously worked alongside head coach Andrew McDonald in the Big Bash League, has signed a two-year contract at Grace Road.

"Mark is a player I know well from my time at South Australia and Sydney Thunder and it is brilliant that we have him on board for the next two seasons," McDonald told the club's official website.

"Mark is a destructive batsman who can bat anywhere at the top of the order and his aggressive approach will be welcome in all formats."

Thirty-year-old Cosgrove will be assisted by Ned Eckersley, who has been appointed the vice-captain.
