Shane Bond joins Daniel Vettori at Brisbane Heat

Brisbane Heat head coach Daniel Vettori confirms that Shane Bond will be his assistant for the next Big Bash League.

The Brisbane Heat have confirmed that Shane Bond has accepted the invitation to assist his fellow countryman Daniel Vettori for the fifth instalment of the Big Bash League.

New Zealander Bond, who was once ranked the best bowler in the world, had recently been working with his national side in a coaching capacity - a role that he stepped down from after the Cricket World Cup.

"Shane is an excellent coach and a very good bowling tactician, especially in T20," head coach Vettori told the club's official website.

"He was highly regarded for his recent work with Mumbai in the IPL recently and I know he is looking forward to the challenge of working in the competitive environment that the BBL brings."

The Heat will begin their campaign against the Melbourne Renegades at The Gabba on Saturday, December 19.
