Aron Nijjar signs professional Essex deal

Essex hand a two-year professional deal to 21-year-old spin-bowler Aron Nijjar.

Spin-bowler Aron Nijjar has signed his first ever professional contract with Essex.

The 21-year-old made his first-class debut against Leicestershire last term and he went on to make nine appearances in all formats of the game.

He has now agreed permanent terms with Essex, which have tied him to the County Ground until the summer of 2017.

"Building on my summer trial, I am delighted to have signed a two-year professional contract," he told the club's official website.

"I have been with the club since I was nine years old and I am excited about the opportunities still to come with this team."

The Essex academy graduate claimed the wicket of former Australia captain Michael Clarke during an Ashes warm-up fixture earlier this year.
