Kane Williamson inspires New Zealand to 299

A knock of 123 from Kane Williamson helps New Zealand to post a total of 298 in their one-day international against Pakistan.

A century from Kane Williamson helped New Zealand to post a total of 299-4 from their 50 permitted overs against Pakistan in Abu Dhabi this afternoon.

The tourists won the toss and elected to bat first, with their openers Martin Guptill (52) and Dean Brownlie (48) giving them a good platform before they fell to Sohail Tanvir and Shahid Afridi respectively.

The dismissal of Brownlie brought Williamson to the crease and while his partners Ross Taylor (26) and Corey Anderson (23) were removed relatively cheaply, the right-hander scored at a rapid rate.

His inning ended in the final over with a return of 123 runs from just 104 deliveries, while Tom Latham was beside him on 13.

In response, Pakistan will need to score 300 runs to win the one-day international encounter.
