New Zealand seize control of first Test against Pakistan

Test debutants Colin de Grandhomme and Jeet Raval have put New Zealand in a commanding position in the first Test against Pakistan.

After the opening day was washed out, Pakistan took to the crease after losing the toss but they reached the 50 mark for just one dismissal.

However, wickets began to fall as De Grandhomme ripped through the top order on his first start in the five-day format of the game, and he ended with figures of 6-41 as Pakistan were bowled out for just 133.

Misbah-ul-Haq (31) was the only batsman to score over 20 for the tourists but that did not stop Raval making the seemingly routine move into the international arena.

As his more experienced teammates returned to the dressing room without making much of a contribution, Raval hit an unbeaten 55 from 108 deliveries as he and Henry Nicholls took the Black Caps to 104-3 at the close of play, leaving the home side trailing Pakistan by just 29 runs.
