Bowler Tim Southee injures his foot in New Zealand's tour match against the England Lions.

Tim Southee has injured his foot bowling against the England Lions on Saturday afternoon.

The New Zealand seamer was expected to be named in the side to face England in the first Test at Lord's beginning on Thursday.

A statement from the Black Caps dismissed claims that the 24-year-old could miss the match next week but confirmed that he will play no further part in the game against the Lions.

"Black Caps head coach Mike Hesson said he was confident that Southee would be fit and available for selection for the first Investec Test starting at Lord's on Thursday," a press release read.

Southee has played 24 Tests for New Zealand.
