New Zealand, Sri Lanka ODI hit by rain

The third one-day international between New Zealand and Sri Lanka is rained off.

New Zealand's third one-day international clash with Sri Lanka at Eden Park in Auckland has been called off due to heavy rain after the hosts reached on 145-3 after 28.5 overs.

Black Caps captain Brendon McCullum followed up his knock of 117 in the second ODI with a brisk 28 from 22 balls before being caught by Nuwan Kulasekara off the bowling of Angelo Mathews.

Tom Latham made 42 before Mathews struck again, with Ross Taylor making just three from eight balls before Mathews trapped him lbw.

Martin Guptill hit three sixes in an unbeaten 66, but after several interruptions as a result of the bad weather the decision was made to stop the game.
