New Zealand head coach Mike Hesson signs two-year contract extension

Hesson extends New Zealand deal

New Zealand head coach Mike Hesson has put pen to paper on a new two-year contract extension.

The 39-year-old was expected to agree fresh terms following New Zealand's last three Test victories against the West Indies and India.

"Our senior players are performing well and we've a promising group of youngsters," BBC Sport quotes Hesson as saying. "It's a really exciting time."

Hesson, who took charge of the team back in July 2012, will face South Africa in a one-day series in October.
