Mumbai Indians finish strong to beat Chennai Super Kings

Mumbai Indians knocked off 54 runs in the final four overs to beat Chennai Super Kings by six wickets for their fifth successive win in the Indian Premier League.

Hardik Pandya (21 off eight balls) and Ambati Rayudu (34 off 19) hit three sixes apiece in a final stand which saw the Indians over the line with four balls to spare.

Chennai had earlier posted 158-5 off their 20 overs. Brendon McCullum got them off to a quick start with 23 off 11 balls before they were pegged back to 65-3.

South African Faf du Plessis (17) and captain MS Dhoni (39 not out) added 39 for the fourth wicket, but it was Pawan Negi's quickfire 36 which boosted their total.

In-form openers Lendl Simmons (38) and Parthiv Patel (45) began the Mumbai chase off strongly, but losing Rohit Sharma and Kieron Pollard cheaply set them back to 125-4.

Mumbai had fallen behind the rate but 25 runs off Negi's 19th over swung the game, and Rayudu hit the winning runs off Dwayne Bravo to clinch a dramatic win.
