Ashley Giles eager to build "legacy" at Lancashire

Ashley Giles has claimed that he wants to build a "legacy" at Lancashire after being handed control of team duties.

The former England spinner was named Lancashire's cricket director and head coach earlier this week, and he has insisted that he does not want to focus on short-term success.

"Legacy is really important to me," Giles told North West Tonight "So if I fall off a tree in three or five years, I will leave something behind that is still on the up.

"In the short term we might have quite a few challenges and we might struggle at times.

"Over time if we stick to good disciplines, get good people involved and build our cricketers as people and players, we've got a chance."

Giles left his post as England's limited-overs coach in April to make way for ex-Lancashire coach Peter Moores.
