Rajasthan Royals defeat Kolkata Knight Riders in a Super Over to make it two consecutive wins in the IPL.

Rajasthan Royals have beaten Kolkata Knight Riders in a dramatic Super Over to make it two consecutive wins in the Indian Premier League.

The Royals, who put themselves in to bat first, made 152-5 before the Knight Riders reached the same score for the loss of eight wickets.

The match was then decided in a Super Over, with both teams making 11 runs from six balls. However, it was the Royals who claimed the win having scored more boundaries during regulation play.

Ajinkya Rahane top scored for Rajasthan with an impressive knock of 72, while Sanju Samson (20), Shane Watson (33) and Steve Smith (19 not out) also made significant contributions at the crease.

Vinay Kumar ended with two wickets to his name for Kolkata, with Morne Morkel and Shakib Al Hasan also getting in on the act.

Gautam Gambhir (45), Jacques Kallis (13) and Manish Pandey (19) helped the Knight Riders get off to a positive start when it was their turn out in the middle, and scores of 31 and 29 not out from Suryakumar Yadav and Al Hasan respectively saw them level the contest after 20 overs.

James Faulkner was the pick of the Rajasthan bowlers with figures if 3-11, while Kane Richardson, Rajat Bhatia and Pravin Tambe were also among the wickets.

Watson and Smith then hit the necessary runs in the Super Over to earn their side a thrilling victory.
