India lose six wickets before tea in third Test against South Africa

India reach 149 runs by tea but lose six wickets in the process on day one of the third Test against South Africa in Nagpur.

India have had a poor start to the third Test against South Africa as they lost six wickets in the first two sessions of the contest in Nagpur.

Ravindra Jadeja (21*) and Wriddhiman Saha (9*) have managed to push the hosts to 149-6 at tea.

India, who won the toss and chose to bat, put 50 runs on the board before the first wicket fell as Shikhar Dhawan (12) was caught and bowled by Dean Elgar, while Morne Morkel dismissed Murali Vijay (40) lbw.

On a tough turning pitch, it did not get better for India as Vijay's 40 was the biggest knock across the first two sessions of the day, while Morkel impressed with the ball.

The 31-year-old has taken three wickets so far in the Test, dismissing captain Virat Kohli for 22 and bowling out Ajinkya Rahane (13) after removing Vijay.

Simon Harmer also got among the wickets by taking out Cheteshwar Pujara (21) and Rohit Sharma, who was sent packing on just two runs after getting caught by AB de Villiers.

India have a 1-0 lead in the four-match series after the second Test was washed out.
