India lose one wicket on first morning

Shikhar Dhawan is the only wicket to fall on the first morning as India reach 89-1 against Australia in Brisbane.

India finished the first morning of the second Test against Australia on 89-1 in Brisbane.

There were recalls for Umesh Yadav, Ravichandran Ashwin and returning captain MS Dhoni, who started the day by electing to bat after winning the toss.

An Australian attack which included Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc, who replaced Ryan Harris and Peter Siddle, started well with the ball, but the tourists looked comfortable in the early stages of the innings.

However, Steve Smith watched his side make the breakthrough in the 14th over when Shikhar Dhawan (24) played a loose shot to edge Mitchell Marsh's wider ball through to Brad Haddin.

Cheteshwar Pujara (15*) joined Murali Vijay (46*) at the crease, and both players batted calmly against pace and the spin of Nathan Lyon to reach lunch without another wicket falling.
