India defeat Pakistan at Edgbaston

India have beaten Pakistan by eight wickets on the Duckworth–Lewis method in their ICC Champions Trophy encounter at Edgbaston.

India's place in the semi-finals of the tournament was already guaranteed before the match, while Pakistan knew that they had no chance of progressing from Group B.

Having lost the toss and put into bat, Pakistan were bowled out for 165 with 10 overs remaining.

Asad Shafiq topscored with a knock of 41, while Kamran Akmal (21), Mohammad Hafeez (21) and Umar Amin (27 not out) all helped to drag their side towards a disappointing total.

Following numerous rain delays, India were set a target of 102 from 22 overs and reached it with around three overs to spare.

Shikhar Dhawan (48) did most of the damage before Virat Kohli (22 not out) and Dinesh Khartik (11 not out) saw India over the line.
