India clinch series over Australia by winning third Test

India wrap up series in third Test

India have wrapped up the series against Australia by winning the third Test in Mohali by six wickets.

The hosts required 103 runs at tea following an assured start from Murali Vijay (26) and Cheteshwar Pujara (28) at the crease.

The tourists were bowled out for 223 during the second session, but struggled on the field as India totted up their run-rate with composure on the bat.

Once the opening batsmen were dismissed, the pressure fell to Virat Kholi, who secured 34 runs from 61 balls before Peter Siddle called time on his period at the crease.

India were dealt a blow when Sachin Tendulkar (21) ran himself out after MS Dhoni failed to get the ball away, which left the hosts needing 17 from 23.

Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja were able to do just that to clinch the series over Australia, who have had an overall dismal tour.
