India have qualified for the World Twenty20 semi-finals after defeating hosts Bangladesh by eight wickets with nine balls remaining in Dhaka.

India, who won the toss and elected to field, started strongly by dismissing Tamim Iqbal (6), Shamsur Rahman and Shakib Al Hasan (1) inside the first five overs.

Anamul Haque was the highest scorer for Bangladesh after posting a knock of 44 from 43 balls, while Amit Mishra topped the bowling tally for India by taking three wickets in the innings that left the hosts on 138-7.

Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan took to the crease for India, but the first blow was struck after just 13 runs when Dhawan was dismissed for one by Al-Amin Hossain.

Despite the early blow, Sharma and Virat Kohli spearheaded India's attack with a prolific partnership until Sharma was taken out on 56 from 44 balls.

However, India were able to push on and reach 141 runs with Kohli and MS Dhoni unbeaten on 57 and 22 respectively.
