India win the third One Day International against Pakistan by 10 runs to avoid a series whitewash.

India have avoided a series whitewash against Pakistan with a 10-run victory in the third One Day International in Delhi.

India won the toss and chose to bat first, but were bowled out for 167 in 43.4 overs.

The Indian batsmen struggled to build the score, MS Dhoni top-scoring with 36 runs from 55 balls.

An economical Saeed Ajmal led the Pakistan attack, claiming five wickets for just 24 runs.

Pakistan failed to match India's runrate with the bat, but were more protective of their wickets.

After a rocky start, solid partnerships between Nasir Jamshed and Misbah-ul-haq, and then Misbah and Umar Akmal, helped the tourists close in on India's total, needing 25 to win the match off the last five overs.

However, a late collapse saw Pakistan lose four wickets for 13 runs to be bowled out for 157 in 48.5 overs, handing the hosts the consolation win.

Ishant Sharma was the pick of India's bowlers, taking three wickets for 36 runs, while Ravichandran Ashwin and Bhuvneshwar Kumar were also amongst the wickets.

Pakistan had already won the series, with wins in the first two matches.
