Former India captain Ravi Shastri appointed director for one-day series

Shastri appointed India director

India have appointed former captain Ravi Shastri as team director for the one-day series against England following their damaging Test series defeat.

The BCCI confirmed Shastri's appointment this morning, while also announcing that former internationals Sanjay Bangar and Bharat Arun will take up roles as assistant coaches.

Fielding coach Trevor Penney and bowling coach Joe Dawes will not be involved in the one-day series later this month as they have both been "given a break".

R Sridhar has been included as a fielding coach for the series, while Duncan Fletcher remains the head coach following India's 3-1 Test defeat to England.
