Confident Pujara hails bowlers

India bowler Cheteshwar Pujara has revealed his self-confidence after picking up the man-of-the-match award for their victory over England.

Pujara hit 247 unbeaten runs over both innings to win the first Test on the fifth day by nine wickets in Ahmedabad and take a 1-0 series lead.

England were dismissed before lunch on the final day of play, and Pujara has commended his side's bowlers after their performance.

"Initially the pitch was quite slow, there was a bit of turn but it was quite slow and I congratulate our bowlers for getting them out twice," said Pujara.

"We knew we had to put up 500+ in order to get them out twice, I had to play my role and in the second innings I had a lot of confidence after scoring a double hundred."

India and England meet in the second Test in Mumbai on Friday.
