Dhoni: 'India set a benchmark'

MS Dhoni has claimed that India set a benchmark for the rest of the World Cup by beating Pakistan by 76 runs in their Pool B opener in Adelaide.

Virat Kohli's 107 guided India to 300-7 from their 50 overs, and regular wickets prevented Pakistan from denying Dhoni's side a crucial victory following their recent struggles in the tri-series with Australia and England.

"This game was fantastic for us," Dhoni told reporters. "It should be a benchmark.

"In the coming games we will be playing more tough sides and hopefully we can replicate this performance."

"It is the job of a leader to keep morale high. If you have a genuine smile on your face and turn up every day trying to improve, the results will follow."

India have beaten Pakistan in all six of their meetings at World Cups.
