Dougie Brown calls for improvement after Birmingham Bears defeat

Birmingham Bears coach Dougie Brown admits that his side will need to produce an improved display if they are to defeat Yorkshire Vikings on Sunday.

Birmingham Bears coach Dougie Brown has admitted that his side will need to find more consistency if they are to prevail from the North Group in the Natwest T20 Blast.

After four successive wins, the Bears suffered a seven-wicket defeat to Leicestershire Foxes on Friday night, and Brown has called for improvements ahead of Sunday's encounter with Yorkshire Vikings.

The 45-year-old told reporters: "We didn't deserve to win. Leicestershire outplayed us in all three disciplines. They played a very strong game for 40 overs and we didn't match the standards that we set ourselves with the bat.

"There is pressure on every game, it is going to be a really tight group. The fact that we were four from five before this game is irrelevant as we know there are some very good sides.

"Teams seem to be beating each other. We have started off stronger than what we did last year and that is a huge bonus. Let's just get to the game on Sunday and let's see if we can put in a better performance than what we did tonight."

Birmingham currently sit in fourth position in the table, but they do have games in hand on the three sides above them in the standings.
