Great Britain canoeist David Florence finishes last in men's slalom

GB's Florence fails to win canoe slalom medal

Great Britain canoeist David Florence has failed to win an Olympic medal in the men's slalom at Rio 2016.

The 34-year-old Scot finished last in Tuesday's event with a time of 109.00 after an early mistake saw him slip to 10th place.

Denis Gargaud Chanut won France's second gold of the Games with 94.17, while Slovakia's Matej Benus took silver and Japan's Takuya Haneda got the bronze.

Florence, who became Great Britain's first Olympic slalom medallist with a C1 silver at Beijing 2008, will compete again for a medal on Thursday in the men's C2 double with Richard Hounslow.
