Becky Hammon in line for head coach role?

San Antonio Spurs assistant coach Becky Hammon is reportedly being considered by NBA executives as a future head coach.

San Antonio Spurs assistant coach Becky Hammon has reportedly been identified as a future head coach candidate by several NBA sides.

The two-time Olympic medalist became the first woman to hold a full-time coaching position in the league last year when she was hired by the then-NBA champions, and has earned plaudits after the Spurs won the Las Vegas Summer League title under her leadership.

According to CBS Sport, one Eastern Conference side has said that the 38-year-old has the "qualities necessary" to coach an NBA team, while another executive admitted that Hammon would be on the shortlist if their side was recruiting a new head coach.

Hammon is a six-time WNBA All-Star, having spells with the New York Liberty, Rivas Ecopolis and Spurs during her playing career.
