Timberwolves exercise Williams option?

The Minnesota Timberwolves have decided to exercise their option on Derrick Williams for the 2014-15 season, according to a report.

Williams, the second overall pick in the 2011 Draft, started 56 games for the Timberwolves last season as his team failed to qualify for the playoffs.

Despite some reports suggesting that the 22-year-old could be traded at the end of the season, ESPN have reported that the Timberwolves are willing to use their option to extend his stay.

Williams averaged 12 points per game during the last campaign.
