Nikola Pekovic will miss rest of season after Achilles surgery

Minnesota Timberwolves centre Nikola Pekovic has had surgery on a long-standing Achilles tendon injury.

The 29-year-old has played just 31 games this season, but he has been ruled out for the remainder of this campaign.

The Timberwolves have not specified how long he will be out for, but they hope to have him back in time for training camp next season.

Pekovic averages 12.5 points a game this season.
