Barack Obama weighs in on Michael Jordan, LeBron James debate

US President Barack Obama backs Michael Jordan in the debate between the Chicago Bulls legend and Miami Heat's LeBron James.

US President Barack Obama has claimed that he is on Michael Jordan's team in the debate of who is better between the former Chicago Bulls forward and LeBron James.

In an interview with ESPN as part of the All-Star game coverage, Obama insisted that he had to side with Jordan because of his ties with Chicago after serving as the Illinois senator.

"Now, I'm a Chicago guy, and Mike will always be the guy for me, just because that was a magical moment for the city, and he was a champion, but Mike's now retired," Obama told Charles Barkley.

"LeBron, when you look at him, you might think he might be able to play at a high level for another seven, eight, 10 years. He's only 29 years old.

"In terms of every aspect of the game, LeBron has the chance to be as good as anybody."

Jordan won the NBA title six times during two spells with the Bulls.
