Team England's Sarah Walker advances to badminton quarter-finals

Team England's Sarah Walker advances to the last eight of the women's singles badminton at the Commonwealth Games following her narrow victory against Jersey's Liz Cann.

Team England's Sarah Walker has progressed to the quarter-finals of women's singles badminton following her victory over Jersey's Liz Cann at the Commonwealth Games.

The 24-year-old had a strong start to the match and took the first set 21-14 in a confident fashion with an array of strokes.

However, Cann battled back in the second set, and she did just enough to edge out Walker to take the match into a decider.

Walker's quality prevailed despite her accuracy failing her at times in the final set as she clinched it 21-18 to move into the last eight of the competition.

The 24-year-old has already won a silver medal at the Games in the mixed team event.
