World Athletics Championships day six roundup

The World Athletics Championships saw a new record set in the men's high jump and a surprise result in the women's 1,500m on day six.

There was also controversy following the passing of a contentious law outlawing the promotion of homosexuality in host nation Russia, sparking reaction from some of the athletes.

On the track, Bohdan Bondarenko took the gold medal in the men's high jump, setting a new World Championships record of 2.41me in the process.

Jehue Gordon of Trinidad and Tobago won the men's 400m hurdles by a fraction of a second, edging out second-placed Michael Tinsley of America.

Meanwhile, Zuzana Hejnova of the Czech Republic triumphed in the women's 400m hurdles, Caterine Ibarguen claimed gold in the women's triple jump, and Abeba Aregawi of Sweden was victorious in the women's 1,500m.
