Allyson Felix "disappointed" to miss 200m

Allyson Felix reveals her disappointment after the World Championships schedule forces her to skip the 200m.

Allyson Felix has confirmed that she will skip the 200m to concentrate on the 400m at the World Championships in Beijing.

Despite qualifying for both events, the American has been forced into a difficult position due to the schedule after learning that there would be a break of just 65 minutes between the 200m semi-finals and the 400m final on Thursday.

Felix admits that it was frustrating to learn that she would miss the 200m - the event in which she won gold at the Olympics in 2012 - but the 29-year-old is hopeful of more success as she prepares to compete in both relays.

"I was disappointed," she told reporters. "I wish we would've been allowed the opportunity to really go after it.

"It was a really difficult decision. I felt like I was in shape that I could do both, but not with the schedule."

Felix has won eight gold medals at the World Championships, but she was forced to settle for 400m silver in 2011 before missing the 2013 meet in Moscow.
