Yuriy Borzakovskiy announces retirement

Russia's former 800m Olympic champion Yuriy Borzakovskiy decides to retire from athletics.

Russia's 800m runner Yuriy Borzakovskiy has confirmed his retirement with immediate effect.

The 33-year-old, who won gold at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, has struggled for fitness and form over the last couple of years.

As a result, the Kratovo-born athlete has decided to call time on his career.

As well as the Olympics, Borzakovskiy also won gold at the European Championships, European Indoor Championships and World Indoor Championships.
