Romania's Sandra Raluca Izbasa wins gold in women's vault

Romania's Sandra Raluca Izbasa has won the gold medal in the women's vault final at the London Olympics ahead of reigning world vaulting champion McKayla Maroney of the USA.

Izbasa struck two solid vaults for a combined score of 15.191, bettering Maroney by 0.108.

The result means that Maroney has failed to become the first American to win gold in the Olympic vault competition.

Russia's Maria Paseka, who finished runners-up to Izbasa at the 2012 European vault championships, won the bronze medal with a score of 15.050.
