Ezekiel Kemboi wins 3000m steeplechase

Ezekiel Kemboi won gold in the final of the men's 3000m steeplechase at the London Olympics this evening.

The Kenyan hit the front of the field with one lap remaining and left his rivals trailing during the remaining 400m.

The 30-year-old, who was recently charged for stabbing his girlfriend back in his homeland, clocked a time of 8:18.56.

France's Mahiedine Mekhissi-Benabbad came second, while another Kenyan, Abel Kiprop Mutai, took the bronze medal.
