Rudisha bemoans poor preparation

Kenya's David Rudisha has admitted that his preparations for the Commonwealth Games were far from perfect after being beaten to 800m gold by Nijel Amos of Botswana on Thursday night.

Despite leading for most of the race, Rudisha had no answer for his rival's strong finish at Hampden Park, and he concedes that a disappointing few months leading up to the Games did have an impact.

"The race was good, but I found the last 100m difficult," the 25-year-old told BBC Sport. "My preparation hasn't been great.

"Nijel is a tough competitor. We ran a tactical race, but he was very good."

Rudisha has struggled for form recently following a long battle with a knee injury.
