Italy's Assunta Legnante wins F11/12 shot put gold medal

Italy have added a gold medal to their tally courtesy of Assunta Legnante's victory in the women's F11/12 shot put final.

Legnante set a new world record with a throw of 16.74m, which earned her 1011 points and the top honour, while Tang Hongxia of China cemented her place in the silver-medal position with a throw reaching 12.47m.

Tang's Chinese teammate Zhang Liangmin rounded off the podium places by claiming bronze with a throw of 11.07m.

Tania Jiminez of Mexico was the closest competitor to rival for a medal with her furthest throw of 9.24m.
