Unnamed Greek athlete expelled from Rio Olympics after failing drug test

Greece's Olympic Committee reports that an athlete from the Greek team has been expelled from the Rio Games after testing positive for drugs.

A Greek athlete has been expelled from the Rio Games after failing a drugs test, Greece's Olympic Committee said on Friday.

The unnamed individual's A sample tested positive for banned substances in a pre-Olympics test conducted in July in Athens.

Reports suggest that neither the athlete's name nor the sport they compete in will be revealed until their B sample has been analysed.

The athlete has left the Olympic Village and is the second to be sent home from Rio, after an Irish boxer failed a test on Thursday.
