Greg Schiano "fine" with Josh Freeman captaincy strip

Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Greg Schiano reveals that he doesn't have a problem that his players didn't vote Josh Freeman as a captain for his season.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Greg Schiano has admitted that he is "fine" with quarterback Josh Freeman not being his side's captain this season.

The Bucs' players voted against having the 25-year-old in favour of Davin Joseph and Vincent Jackson, despite having led the team in the past three years

Schiano told reporters: "I know one thing, Josh is going to lead. Josh is a leader. So I'm not concerned about that.

"To a man, I think every offensive player will tell you, 'we follow number five.' I think it's a good thing. I guess it all depends how you look at it. I'm fine with it."

Tampa Bay face the New York Jets in their season opener on Sunday.
