King Dunlap signs four-year deal with San Diego Chargers

San Diego Chargers offensive tackle King Dunlap has signed a new four-year contract to remain with the club.

Dunlap was scheduled to become a free agent when the league year officially ends in March, but the team and the player managed to come to terms on a long-term deal worth $28m [£18.1m] over four seasons.

Dunlap told the club's official website: "I am glad to be back with the Chargers organisation.

"I can't say thank you enough to [team president] Dean Spanos, as well as [general manager] Tom Telesco, coach [Mike] McCoy and coach Joe D [D'Alessandris] for helping this day to arrive.

"It's an honour and a blessing and I'm ready to get back to work."

The 29-year-old played in all 16 games for the Chargers in the 2014 season.
